Men's Basketball adds Boone and Lilavois To Coaching Staff

ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University First-year head coach Chris Beard announced the additions of Cinco Boone and Phillipe Lilavois to the ranks of the coaching staff for the men's basketball program for the 2012-13 campaign.

Boone comes to McMurry with nine years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. He recently spent two years at Stephen F. Austin University. With Boone as an assistant, the Lumberjacks saw back-to-back winning seasons of 18-11 and 20-12 respectively.

Prior to his time at SFA, Boone spent three years at Jacksonville College, serving as an assistant for two seasons, before taking the reins and leading the Jaguars to a 16-16 record in his first season as head coach.

"Cinco is a proven winner," said Beard of his assistant. "He has a special ability to communicate with the players.  He has been a successful head coach at the junior college level and a successful recruiter and assistant coach at the NCAA Division 1 level.  We are fortunate to have him at McMurry."

Lilavois joins the War Hawks staff, having served the previous three seasons as an assistant coach with Jacksonville College. He assisted in all facets of the program, including recruitment and running strength and conditioning programs.

Before his time with the Jaguars, Lilavois served as an undergraduate manager at Texas Tech where he spent time under the tutelage of Bob Knight.

"I have known Phillipe for several years, since he was a student assistant at Texas Tech under Coach Knight," said Beard.

"He did a tremendous job at Jacksonville College the past three seasons recruiting and coaching, helping to lead the team to 60 wins. Phillipe has a bright future in college basketball."

Coach beard is confident that in his first season, he has surrounded himself with assistants that are going to help take the War Hawks to the next level.

"My top priority this summer after accepting this job was to hire an experienced and proven coaching staff," Beard explained. "Cinco and Phillipe were my two top choices.  Our players will benefit greatly from their leadership, recruiting, and coaching."
