According the federal railroad statistics, there were sixteen recorded fatalities last year in Texas on railroad crossings.
In fact, the state of Texas ranks third in the nation for the top railroad deaths.
It takes a train more than one mile to slow down enough to avoid a collision, so some safety tips to remember:
- Trains always have the right of way
- Trains travel much faster than they appear.
- Always stay alert near the tracks
- Never walk on the train tracks
