With the increase in gas prices, it's a good idea to make sure your car is ready to hit the road. Because there is nothing worse than topping off a high gas bill with another high maintenance bill if your car breaks down.

With the Summer travel season wearing down it's time to starting thinking about Fall. According to Robin Barnes, Sales Consultant with Star Hyundai, your car needs to be a big part of your to-do-list.

"It's really important to make sure your tires have the proper inflation," Barnes recommends. "If they're over inflated or under inflated they can get to hot, which can cause blowouts."

Windshield wiper blades are another big item to cross off the to-do-list towards the end of Summer. In fact, in order to get your state inspection sticker, Barnes says the requirement for wiper blades states that no more than two inches of rubber can be torn.

"So you might as well keep them up," she adds, "it's going to be better for you in the long run."

Barnes also recommends a routine check of your belts and hoses, along with antifreeze levels and quality before the Fall begins.

"You yourself can just lift your hood up to check and see if your hoses and belts are dry and cracked," says Barnes. "If they are you really need to have them replaced."

Barnes says the mechanics at Star Hyundai are available to give your car a glance over, if you're looking to catch up on maintenance for the year.
