Head coach Mark Coley's team took the field with 7 of 12 positions filled with returners from the 2011 state champions. On top of the returning starters, the Panthers have lots of players back that saw a lot of action.
They are the defending champs, and ACHS is ready to defend that crown.
Coach Coley said, "I think we have a pretty good attitude. I've been reading a couple of books this summer. 1 was a Tim Tebow book about how they won the national title, and then the next year lost 3 of their 1st 5 games because they thought everyone would just roll over for them. We talked about that some today. I think kids are excited about the year, but they also realize they've got to prove themselves, again."
Here are some extra points for ACHS. They start the year ranked #1 in TAPPS. Junior Samai Massaqoui is the leading returning rusher for the Panthers with 9 rushing touchdowns in 2011. ACHS opens the season in Zephyr against Cherokee.
