Two Children Shot in Abilene, One Critically Injured

ORIGINAL: Two children, ages 8 and 12, have been shot in northwest Abilene. Police responded to the call around 5:30 p.m. They first arrived at North 10th St. and Pioneer Dr. but later discovered that the shooting had happened at North 9th and Plaza.
According to police, the shots were fired after an altercation. The two children were in an S.U.V. and someone shot as the vehicle was driving away. The bullets grazed the 8-year-old boy and critically wounded the 12-year-old boy. The youngest victim has been treated and released from the hospital, while the older boy had to be flown by medical helicopter to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.
Detectives have been questioning witnesses and are still investigating.
