Hendrick Diabetes Center Grand Opening

By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: August 7, 2012
A very special ribbon cutting ceremony was held earlier today at a place dedicated to helping those living with diabetes.

The Hendrick Diabetes Center celebrated their open house at its new location on Hickory street this morning.

Their diabetes center is now in its own building and fully housed with diabetes educators and dietitians to help folks manage the disease.

The public, dozens of patients, and Hendrick nurses stopped by for the ceremony and to tour the new facility.

"It means hope and it means a better life," asserts Becky Wells, a certified diabetes educator, "because diabetes is a self managed disease. So, people need to know how to keep themselves healthy. "

The center is accessible to the public and diabetes patients.

It is also the only facility of its kind in the region.
