Everyone is pretty much familiar with the common flu symptoms and how to protect your family. But what about your pets? Humans aren't the only ones susceptible to the flu and Dr. Janice Price with the Windmill Animal Hospital explains how to keep your pet from catching the sniffles.

"It's bad news, It's Canine influenza. It does not go to humans so we don't have to worry about that. But it is a relatively new disease. It emerged in 2004 in racing greyhounds in Florida where a bunch of them died from it.", explains Price.

She Adds, "If you have a dog with heart problems, battling respiratory illness like kennel cough or something else they can go down in flames pretty quickly."
