Hardin-Simmons Community Mourns Loss of Volleyball Player, Jessica Rogers

"She was supposed to have been here at 10:00 this morning," says Sonny Dillard.
So when that time came and passed, employees at Luskey's Western Wear were a little confused as to where Jessica Rogers could be.
Dillard continues, "We thought well, she'll be in at noon because she was off yesterday."
Then the unfortunate news came.
"Then we got the call and it's just a tragedy," he says.
Twenty-year-old Jessica Rogers was driving westbound on Interstate-20 in Eastland County when she drove into the back of a towed trailer that was slowing down because of traffic ahead.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
"She loved life and it's hard to figure out why," Dillard adds.
Not only are her coworkers missing her, but her volleyball team as well.
Her volleyball coach, Sabrina Bingham, says, "Jess was an amazing girl with an amazing heart."
Bingham says, the team has lost more than just a player. They're losing a family member.
"You couldn't help but smile when you walked into a room with her," Bingham adds.
Teammate and close friend, Madison Reyes agrees.
"We went to each other all the time and I'm going to miss that person and having that in somebody. But I will never forget it. She will always be a part of me and who I am," says Reyes.
Because of that Reyes says Jessica Rogers has left an impact on her life, which she and her teammates will use to get through this year's season.
"It's definitely going to be hard because we're missing somebody but we will use that definitely to boost us. We will do it for Jessica and she will be with us," Reyes says.
