There was a break-in at the Abilene Animal Shelter and it seems that a certain dog may have been specifically targeted.

Wednesday, someone cut the fence, then cut two gates to get into the kennel and took an English bulldog that had been in protective custody.

The animal was confiscated from an Abilene home after an Abilene police officer saw the dog tied up and tangled. The dog was unable to get to its water or food

After the dog was stolen from the shelter, police went back to the house and it was vacant.

Personnel at the shelter say the dog was in their custody since July and had not been on their website, so not many people new ti was there.

Nothing else was taken during the break-in.

However, there was about $200 to $300 in property damage to the fence and the gates.
