An unconfirmed case of West Nile virus in South Abilene. The Environmental Health Department says it was just a matter of time, because Taylor county is now named as a county under a threat for West Nile.

Courtney Odom says she can not imagine being the one in Abilene who may have the West Nile virus. She says now she is worried for her kids.

Courtney started feeling the symptoms days ago but it wasn't until recently that her fever was high enough that she went to the doctor.

Doctors say her illness will most likely remain unconfirmed because the test to confirm West Nile is too expensive. So for now she will just treat the symptoms and watch for others that may develop.

Courtney says she wants to spread the word that West Nile is here and very real and uncomfortable.

Doctors have told Courtney she should go to the emergency room if the back of her neck begins to hurt.
