"There's no words that can prepare you to hear that your daughter has a brain tumor," said Courtney Cochran.

Callie was barely two years old when her parents found out that she had brain cancer.

"So she underwent radiation and surgery and right now she is cancer free. So we're just looking for a way to celebrate and to give back," Courtney explained.

That's where the lemonade stand comes in. The Cochran family says they could not have made it through without the help of the community and friends, which includes the Ronald McDonald House. So now they want to raise money to help other families.

"We're in a good place now. We're celebrating with her and the Ronald McDonald house was our home away from home," said Courtney. "And we couldn't have been through her hospital stay without the Ronald McDonald house, so we just want to give back."

Courtney is looking to make this an annual fundraising event. And hopes that in the future, Callie will carry this on as a tradition.

"She's still a little young, so she's involved somewhat. But hopefully in the future she can just take over this and let it be her thing that she does with her friends. And a way for her to remember where she's come from and all that she's been given," explained Courtney.

While today was to celebrate Callie being cancer free after turning three earlier this week, it was also so say thank you to those who helped.

"I think that's part of what today's about," Courtney said. "Is just saying thank you to all those people and letting them continue to have a part of what Callie will hopefully go on to do with what she's been given."

Donations can be sent to 38 South Clack, Attention Phil Cochran, Abilene, TX 79606.
