New AISD teachers can look forward to a little help from the Abilene Education Foundation.

The AEF will be providing brand new teachers with a check for $150 to help offset the cost of setting up a classroom for the first time.

Thursday, August 16, marks the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year for teachers new to Abilene ISD.

There were approximately 45 first-year teachers included in this group who will be undergoing two days of orientation before classes begin.

Jean McMillon, executive director of AEF, will announce the gift during the opening of New Teacher Orientation this coming Thursday at One AISD Center.

This is the fifth year AEF has been able to assist new teachers in this manner.
