The police department released the preliminary report Tuesday morning after the medical examiner conducted an autopsy on the body of 49-year-old Miguel Martinez.
The official cause of death is listed as "high-velocity gunshot wounds."
One of the bullets went through his left arm into his chest.
Martinez received gunshot wounds on several areas of his body, including the chest, back and left leg.
Two police officers shot Martinez last Wednesday morning after they rushed to a north Abilene home when his estranged wife reported that Martinez had threatened her with a gun.
The officers found the man in a shed outside.
They report that they fired when the man pointed a loaded revolver at the officers.
