No Pools for Pups

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: August 14, 2012
The dog days of summer are upon us, but one special day for dogs here in Abilene will not be happening this year.

The annual Splash Day for Dogs at Rose Park has not been scheduled this year.

The event, which has been held for the past eight years, is usually the closing event for the pool.

On that one day, owners are allowed to let their canine friends swim in the pool.

This year, however, city officials say staffing and budget concerns have prevented the event from taking place.
