Last Season the Stamford Bulldogs came just one win short of a state title. Now with eight starters on both sides of the ball back for 2012. The Bulldogs are itching for another shot.

Dalton Mathis says, "All of us guys we've been waiting for this all summer. We've been watching the state game from last year, and that just watching that gives you chills and you're ready to go again."

Already getting their fair share of preseason praise the Bulldogs have 26 lettermen returning for this season and that's allowing the coaches to work with a veteran group.

Head coach Wayne Hutchinson said, "It's really paid big dividends going into two-a-days. It already feels like we're a seasoned team even though we're just beginning. We can spend a little more time on details rather than the overall concept of plays."

Stamford still has some holes to fill  -- like the void left after Jessie Ramos graduated. But the Bulldogs hope a deep wide receiving core including Bo Wimberley and James Washington as well as an experienced quarterback in Hagen Hutchinson will help them get back to Texas Stadium.

"We can't let one day go by that we're not out working our opponents. We do have that bullseye on our backs." Hutchinson added, "We know people are going to be coming after us this year and we're trying to make sure that our kids have the correct mindset that we're not going to let that happen this year."

And the players say they're ready to take on the challenge and possiblity bring home a chamionship.

Roy Alaniz said, "We know what we want. We know we want to get back to where we were last year. Hopefully take home the gold this year."

"We've got a lot of motivation going in to this season, and most of us seniors who played as juniors last year." Mathis added, "It's our last year and we want to make another run for it."
