A vehicle crashing through a building. It's a freak accident that you wouldn't imagine happens all that often. But in Brownwood, a vehicle driving into a restaurant on Tuesday afternoon, was the third occurrence in the last three weeks.

It's the last thing people were expecting when they sat down for lunch at La Botana restaurant in Brownwood. A car drove into the front of the restaurant and screeched to a stop in the middle of the dining room.

Steve Stovall of Service Master,  was there for the aftermath. "The car came right in facing this way, you can still see where the back tires tried to stop", says Stovall.

Police say a 50 year-old woman was turning into the parking lot, and she says when she attempted to pump her brakes, her car accelerated straight into the restaurant.

"There was a vehicle trying to come out onto the main roadway, and she yielded to that vehicle to wait to let them out safely when she started to experience what she called the mechanical problems", says Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police, James Fuller.

The impact of the crash left two people dining in the restaurant with minor injuries, and the driver and the passenger  walked away unharmed. But for the business, there is a need for major clean-up and repair.

"It did quite a bit, it completely tore out the whole front end where the door was at. Quite a bit of glass and brick. From what I've seen it scared them pretty bad. I don't know that I would have wanted to been in here when it happened", says Stovall.

Police say there are no current citations for the driver, and the case will most likely be passed on to the insurance company.

Brownwood Police also tell us each of car-into-building crashes occurred at different times of the day and in different locations in Brownwood, and says there is no reason to believe there is a common thread that caused all of these accidents.

The crew working to clean up the restaurant tells us that once they are finished, a construction crew will come in to evaluate the structure further. There is no word yet on when the restaurant will re-open.
