The Haskell Indians are 1 of the schools trying to catch Stamford in District 4-A Division I this year.

The Indians are coming off a tough 2011 with just 1 win, but they are expecting that to change this year.

Grady Benton is the new head coach, and he brings a new offense and a new attitude. A lot has changed for the players, but the coach says they are getting the hang of it. Benton says, "When things are different it takes time for kids to adjust to them, and they've been doing a great job in adjusting to what we've asked them to do. We feel real good about where we are at after week one. I think once we get the scheme learned the speed will pick up. Right now we are doing a lot of thinking and that's just adjusting to the new style."

"We've done a whole lot more conditioning throughout practice rather than conditioning at the end of practice. We've integrated a classroom system now where we go into the classroom and study, which is a new thing for me." says senior Doug King.

The Grady Benton era starts on August 31st in Archer City.
