Abilene Leaders of Tomorrow's annual School Supply Drive for Title 1 schools in AISD will be held Thursday, August 16.
The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at First Financial Bank located on 400 Pine Street in the third floor dining room. Admission to the event will be a sack of school supplies or $5, with all proceeds going to the drive.
Abilene Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT) is a program of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, designed to connect, empower and engage the leaders of tomorrow by providing professional development, community and civic involvement and social opportunities.
The group represents a vast array of the area's workforce including: non-profits, manufacturing, retail, education, the arts, architecture, engineering, finance, marketing, law, medicine, media and government.
Also, community members are invited to join forces and celebrate individual and corporate investment at the United Way of Abilene Campaign Kickoff and Report Luncheon Thursday, August 16, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abilene Civic Center, sponsored by United Supermarkets and Pepsi.
The report luncheon will emphasize Education, one of United Way of Abilene's Impact Goals.
Volunteers will provide reports on Pacesetter campaigns and award businesses with substantial increases in employee giving.
Attendees are asked to bring new school supplies as their admission fee to the luncheon. Supplies will be added to the K-Ready Kids school supply initiative, a collaboration of United Way, United Supermarkets and KTAB.
