Farmers' Market Vendors Desperate for Rain

By: Nora Hartfeil
Updated: August 18, 2012
We spoke with local fruit and veggie vendors at the Abilene Farmers' Market Saturday morning to find out if they are feeling optimistic about the chances of rain in the near future.

"We need the deep moisture to come back for planting next year. It will help in the long-term also, if we could get some really heavy rains around here", says Kathy Ingram, vendor.

She also told us that it would take more than a few days of rain to fully saturate current crops; however, at this point, she says she will take whatever rain she can get to help her fruit crops.
