Abilene may be getting more water resources from two west Texas cities.

Mayor Norm Archibald has been meeting with the mayors of Midland and San Angelo as part of the Tri-Cities Coalition.

The goal is to find some way to create future water resources for the cities and possibly for other cities of similar size.

Though nothing has been decided, one possibility is a reservoir north of Abilene, and the mayor says working together will help the coalition think of creative ideas, as well as be good for the tax payers.

"When we come to the table and say, 'why don't we consider doing this project?' if Midland, San Angelo and Abilene all shared in that, then we find that it would be cost sharing as well as beneficial for all of us," explans Archibald.

The group is hoping to create a water supply that would be good for 50 to 100 years for all three cities and is still looking into the possible projects.
