The Anson Tigers are making the drop from Class 2A Division 2 to Class A Division 1 for the next 2 years.

The Tigers have really struggled in the last few years in Class 2A. As a matter of fact, they didn't win a game last year.

The Tigers are looking forward to the season because they will be playing schools the same size this year, but head coach Keith Woolf says it's not going to be any easier this year.

Coach Woolf said, "Class A is not really a drop in competition. I been through that when we were in Brownwood.  We went from 4A to 3A, and the competition was just as stiff. Our competition is going to be just as stiff in our 1A classification."

He added, "The only thing that helps us is we're kind of fighting on a level playing field with enrollment numbers, and that's what's been a benefit. We're not fighting schools that have twice the enrollment as us, but as far as the competition and the ability of the teams we are playing it is probably just as good."

Woolf and the Tigers start the Class A era at Anson in Hamlin against the Pied Pipers on August 31st.
