By: Officer George Spindler, APD
Updated: August 21, 2012
Monday afternoon at about 4:40 p.m., Officer Jake Weise was dispatched to a fraud call concerning a male victim that had been confronted by a male suspect. APD Dispatch had been contacted by a calling party that called on behalf of a male victim that was allegedly run off the road by someone purporting to be with the district attorney's office. The incident occurred in the 3000 block of S. 1st Street. A suspect vehicle description and license plate number was provided to Officer Weise during this preliminary investigation. The investigation revealed that a known suspect had ran the victim off the road, claimed to be a public servant, and demanded money from the victim with the threat of confiscating the victim's van if the victim did not pay the suspect. The victim alleges that he paid the suspect in cash and that the suspect left. This confrontation appears to be over a matter of property purchased by check moments earlier from the suspect's place of business. A report for felony impersonating public servant was taken. This investigation continues.

Monday evening at about 10:10 p.m., Officer Damien Hutchinson was dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Victoria Street due to a disturbance that had just occurred.  APD Dispatch was advised by a mother that her teenage daughter was jumped by a known female subject who was reportedly age 26 and that the incident occurred while the victim was walking home. The mother also alleged that another subject was involved and identified this second subject as the female subject's boyfriend. Officer Hutchinson's investigation revealed that the female victim stated she was assaulted by the suspects at North 12 and Victoria, and that the suspects took her shoes valued at approximately $30.00. The suspects were not present during this preliminary investigation. A report for felony robbery was taken and this investigation continues.

Tuesday morning just after midnight, Officer Cory Valencia was dispatched to a disturbance in the 2000 block of Grape Street. APD Dispatch had been notified by a calling party that a male and female were fighting and screaming across the street. Officer Valencia contacted a male subject upon arrival and learned that the subject did not live at the residence and that the owner of the residence did not want the subject on the property. Officer Valencia's investigation revealed that the male subject had been in a fight with a friend at the residence.  Further investigation revealed that the subject had nowhere to go and was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication.
