Military Appreciation Day at State Park

By: Nora Hartfeil
Updated: August 25, 2012
Admission was free for military families to come enjoy the amenities at Abilene State Park. Several flocked straight to the swimming pool to cool off.

We caught up with one retired military member who took all his grand kids for a day outdoors.

"I think it's a wonderful time, I think everybody should appreciate all the ones who have served in the military", says Bill Parsons, retired military.

Saturday was the park's first official Military Appreciation Day. Sunday,  they will be honoring EMS and law enforcement officials with free admission as well. They would like people to remember to bring ID.
