ACU held the first chapel of the 2012-2013 school year which included the traditional Parade of the Flags.
The many flags represent the many cultures and countries represented in the student body.
However, today's chapel recognized two very special guests: Doctor Billy Curl and Larry Bonner, who 50 years ago today began as the first African-American full-time students at ACU.
"I just like the validation, explains Dr. Curl. It's homecoming, It's recognition and it meant that what we did meant something in the long run. That's what it really meant to us."
Doctor Curl says at the time they didn't realize they were breaking any barriers, but are happy that their actions blazed the trail for other African-American students to follow in their path.
