The public transportation systems in the Abilene could be getting better.

The Texas Department of Transportation is working with CityLink and other groups to get federal grants to improve the transit systems in town.

Group leaders say they want to make public transportation readily available to the public.

The plan would extend some CityLink routes and add more stops to make it easier to get to and from work and school as the cost of gasoline continues to rise.
