Transcript for David Robinett's conversation with Abilene High head coach Steve Warren:

David Robinett says, "Coach Warren the season is finally here. We've been ready for this week since December. Tell me how good it feels to know you've got a game at the end of this week."

Coach Warren says, "It's a great feeling. You know, all that hard work behind the scenes and the all the things that you have to do to prepare for now, well, now it's here. This is why we do what we do. We get to go out there on Friday night and play the game. That's the payoff. We look forward to getting those guys out there and letting them have some fun.

David says, "And you've got a bunch of guys that kind of know what's coming. They kind of know the drill of game week. 18 or more kids that saw a lot of action are back. Tell me how you, what you've seen in them since Monday."

Coach Warren said, "The thing that I've seen is that their excitement level picked up yesterday. You know, school started, a lot of things surrounding that. Everybody talking football. Everybody talking about these guys. That's how it ought to be. It's that time of year in Texas. It's Texas high school football. It's at it's best."

David said, "The expectations are incredibly high. Every poll I've seen, you are in the top 10. Do you like having that. Do you like people saying Abilene High is going to be good?

Coach Warren said, "I do like that. I think there is a real pride factor in that. We worked really hard to get to that point. You've been here through it all. For us to be mentioned in the top 10 every single year, no matter how many how many we have coming back, if we have a lot or we don't have a lot. It's just a respect thing from a lot of people around the state. We have to hold up our side of it. Now we've got to go out and perform, and we expect to. We expect to perform at a real high level and look forward to getting that started this Friday night"
