The Abilene High Eagles and their coaches know most of the answers to any questions heading into their opener this week.

18 players are back this year that saw a lot of action in the teams run to the Class 5A Division II quarterfinals in 2011.

The unanswered question is, how will this experienced team deal with sky-high expectations in 2012?

Some high school kids can't handle the pressure that goes with high expectations, but head coach Steve Warren believes his Eagles can handle it. "We expect to content for a state championship. We expect to win a district championship. We expect to go to the playoffs for the 14th straight year." He added, "These kids know that. Having said that, we spend a lot of time, myself in particular, talking about staying hungry. Hungry to improve. Hungry to want to be better. (We are) really pressing the veteran guys to do that. So, so far, so good, you know, we're pretty pleased with where we are."

Abilene High starts the new season over in the Metroplex on Friday night. The 9th ranked Eagles are set to open up against Hebron. The kickoff at 7:30.
