The cutoff date for applying to the 2012-2013 City University program is fast approaching.

City University is a community leadership and involvement program that offers a way for participants to become better informed about City programs and services.

Participants go behind the scenes of City of Abilene facilities, find out how various divisions operate and meet City employees who deliver the services they count on throughout the year.

The cutoff date for applications is September 10.

Applications can be obtained here, at City Hall in Room 101 and the Mayor's office, and at all three City libraries.

Sessions will begin Thursday, Sept. 20, and will take place once a month from 1:30 to 7 p.m., continuing through May.

Participants are asked to attend seven of the nine classes to graduate. Tuition for City University is $50.

Over the past six years, City University has graduated over 200 participants from the program.  Each class is made up of a diverse group of citizens who come from the Abilene community.
