Friday, August 31st:

John Wayne Film Fest kicks off in Snyder Texas, lasting through Sunday, September 2nd. Throughout the weekend, legendary John Wayne films will be replayed at the historic Ritz Theatre.

The Abilene Community Theatre is presenting "39 Steps" a play adapted by Patrick Barlow, from a John Buchan novel. The mystery/comedy features everything from an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and of course a little romance.

Saturday, August 1st:

Coleman residents are invited to the grand opening at the Heritage Hall Gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Artists will be on hand to talk about their work. Light refreshments will also be provided.

If you love chili, brisket, ribs, or dessert, be sure to check out the Chili cook-off benefiting the Ben Richey Boys Ranch. Participants will also be able to enjoy live music and witness the world's largest bowl of chili.

Sunday, August 2nd:

Talented senior citizens can participate in the 2nd Annual Senior Citizen Talent Show at the Abilene Civic Center. Tickets are $5 per person, the show starts at 2 p.m.
