The Veterans of Foreign Wars here in Abilene served breakfast for first responders in the community.
The breakfast was open from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for all local fire departments, police departments and emergency medical service providers.
Local VFW members say it was their way of saying thank you to the first responders for everything they do for our community.
"They're very important people in our community," emphasizes VFW member, Mike Craft, "and we appreciate them. This is one of the ways the VFW show their appreciation for them."
The group has also scheduled a special ceremony with dinner for first responders at 5:00 Tuesday afternoon.
