That was until she developed lung cancer and was out of work for a while.
She continues, "This last year, financially, hasn't been real good for my husband and I. So I knew I needed to go to work."
She spent seven grueling days hunting for a way to bring in a steady income.
"I noticed that each time I was interviewed, the person was younger and younger. And i realized that I was in deep trouble then, because I had no education," she says.
Tollett eventually came to the realization that times have changed, and finding a job at her age, with her qualifications would be harder than she thought.
That is when she decided to pursue her dream.
"Maybe now you should get that little boutique somehow, so you can have an income," says Tollett.
She began saving her money, making a purchase here, and purchase there, until she had everything she needed to open her shop.
Now that Tollett's prayers have been answered, in the future, she plans on passing along her blessing to others.
She wants Nana's Boutique to become a clothing closet for battered women.
"They can leave with an outfit or something and make them feel good and not feel like they've had hand-me-downs or that somebody felt sorry for them and gave them something," she says.
In the meantime, Tollett says, Nana's Boutique is a place for everyone, and you don't want to miss out.
"I want it to be just a neat fun place, that even if you don't want to buy anything, you've gotta come see what Nana's got in, cause you know she's got something," she says.
Nana's Boutique is open Wednesday through Saturday.
The shop is located at 5777 East Hwy 80, Abilene, TX.
