Cooper struck first with a touchdown by Trey Dye on a reverse. That gave the Cougars a 6-0 lead after the failed point after attempt.
The Rebels would answer right back with a touchdown of their own by running back Jason Mcaffee to give Midland Lee a 7-6 lead.
That wouldn't be the last time the Cougars would hear from Mcaffee either. He would strike again with yet another touchdown run to give the Rebels a 14-6 lead in the second quarter.
Cooper would try and answer back, but quarterback Lorenzo Joe would lose the ball and Midland Lee would take over.
In the third quarter Cooper would stage a comeback with a touchdown by Xavier McCann to cut the Midland Lee lead down to 21-13.
Later in the third, the Cougars would again cut the lead down following a Midland Lee touchdown with a scamper by Kerry Sims to make it a 28-20 game.
The Rebel defense would respond with a late fumble recovery, and they would run out the clock.
The Cougars would go on to lose their first game of the season Friday night to Midland Lee 28-20.
