2nd Annual Homeless Stand Down Helps Homeless Veterans

The community came together at a North-side good will to help homeless veterans Saturday. The 2nd annual homeless stand off was aimed at helping veterans as much as possible, providing sleeping bags and tents while trying to get as many off the streets as possible.

There was also a benefits fair for all veterans, giving them an opportunity to file claims for disabilities or pensions. Organizers say that it's a chance for the community to give back to those vets that fought for them.

"We believe that as veterans, they've served our nation and we want to give back to them. Because they've given so much to our nation, and we want to give them something back," said Scotty Henderson, chairman of the Military Partnership of West Central Texas.
