WACO, Texas - For the second time in just three weeks, the McMurry University volleyball team has had an athlete named a player of the week. However, unlike last time, this week two War Hawks have earned the award, as junior Peyton Evans and Senior M.J. Vickers were both given the honor, announced the conference office Monday.

Evans earned Heartland Conference Setter of the week for the second time in just three weeks of playing in a McMurry uniform. The junior setter accumulated 78 assists in just two games as the War Hawks went 2-0 on the week. Along with her 78 assists, Evans hit .320 and notched five aces. Her 52 assists against St. Mary's marked a season high.

Vickers was named the Co-Hitter of the Week in the conference, following two stellar performances where she totaled 34 kills and hit .316. M.J. added 24 digs to her kill total and averaged 4.3 kills per set during the two-game span. In the five-set marathon match against St. Mary's, Vickers notched her first 20/20 game of the season as she totaled 22 kills and 21 digs.

The War-Hawks are currently riding a three-game winning streak against Heartland Conference opponents, and will continue conference play on Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State. However, before that contest, McMurry will travel to San Angelo to take on Angelo State on Thursday. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
