Whether it's fear, confidentiality, time, cost, or just a question about a procedure or particular issue, Abilene Dental has the solution.

"We went through a staff meeting and went through all the concerns that patients seem to have," says Dr. Christie Leedy with Abilene Dental. "Interestingly enough when we put it with the research it's the same things that keep people away from the dentist."

That's right, even in this day and age there are still kids and even adults who fear their visits to the dentist office.

"That is a big issue with people going to the dentist," explains Dr. Christie.

What is there to be afraid of? According to Dr. Christie, it has a lot to do with tradition and past experiences as a child.

"People my age who had bad experiences as a child, it can really affect them," she adds, "it's hard to get it out of their head."

According to Dr. Christie, while getting some adults over their fears can be an arduous process, it isn't impossible to accomplish. Some of the areas Abilene Dental focuses on to remove anxiety and stress with their patients, is the overall environment at their office along with creating and maintaining an open dialogue to express their concerns.

One of the other big concerns when it comes to the dentist office is patient confidentiality.

"A lot of people are embarrassed about their teeth," says Dr. Christie, "they don't want people to know about the situation they've gotten themselves into."

To combat this in new and continued patients, Abilene Dental offers their customers a private room to ensure privacy and maintain confidentiality.
