A group of Brownwood residents is searching for their missing friend.

Michele Monique Reiter has been missing for eight days now.

It's been countless hours of searching.

Going store store store and asking anyone to help them find a woman who some like Kymberlee Cantu only know as an acquaintance.

"It doesn't matter if I knew her or not, you know, she's a human being," she said.

Others like Yolanda Nino however, consider Michele Reiter family.

"It's like losing a best friend, its' very hard," she said.

Reiter has been missing for more than a week now and many of her friends and co-workers have now made it their mission to find her.

"You know I think the biggest thing is you know no matter what, where she's at right now, she's with God though, but this way we can have closure," said David Shiff, one of Reiter's co-workers.

"I just, I want her home safe, for her children, I'd like to know shes safe," said Hayley Munger who also works with Reiter.

They've posted on Facebook and have gone to nearly every store around Brownwood to spread the word.

Although it can get frustrating at times, it's not enough to stop them.

"Not getting any other kind of information of whats going on, I think thats the worst part right now," said Nino.

Brownwood police say the'yre investigating the case, but Reiter's friends continue their own search.

"It's definitely rough, we miss her, we want her home, we'd like to have her back safe," said Munger.

And they'll keep on looking for their friend, no matter how long it takes.

Reiter has two sons who live in Abilene with her ex-husband.

Friends say they have been very supportive and have also helped with search efforts.

They say the rest of Reiters family lives in New York.

Officials urge anyone with information of Reiter's whereabouts to contact Brownwood Police.
