You may recognize the name from hit Christian singles like "Forgiveness," "Strong Enough," and "The Motions."  He is one of the biggest names in Christian music and this weekend you can catch Matthew West live in concert at the Abilene Civic Center.

In Abilene, Sears Methodist Retirement Systems focuses around both the Mesa Springs Retirement Village and the Wesley Court Retirement Community.

"We've been doing ministry in Abilene and throughout the state of Texas for over 40 years," explains Jill Coleman, representative from Sears Methodist.

In order to promote their faith based values and help raise money for the organization, Sears Methodist reached out to Christian artists across the country to put together a series of concerts.

"We want to bring the Gospel to Abilene and the surrounding areas," adds Coleman. "We reached out to Matthew West and he said 'sign me up!'"

Come Saturday, September 22nd whatever money is raised at the concert will be funneled back into the seniors and the organization that helped make it happen. But what does that look like?

"A lot of times when we have folks that move into our communities... a lot of those people are widows," explains Coleman. "There are times when they are living on limited incomes.. and so we do have income assistance."
