"I pulled out of my driveway to see this truck pulling out of our shop across the street," says Powers.
When she saw what was in the back of his truck, she immediately sprung into action, leaving no time to second guess herself.
Powers explains, "I was angry 'cause he was stealing our property and two, if I lost him, how upset my husband would be because I was letting all his material get away."
She says he was going at least 90 miles an hour.
To avoid breaking the speed limit herself, that is when Powers got on the phone with Jones County Police operators and they were able to dispatch officers out to catch the thief.
"I stayed on until I lost visual . He was going so fast the dirt obscured my vision and I lost visual of him," she says.
It was at Jay'z Recycling, that Powers finally caught up to the thief.
Jones County Sheriffs showed up before the thief even had time to cash in his stolen merchandise.
Powers is glad the suspect was caught and her materials will be returned to their rightful owners.
She says, "Any of the recycling we get is money that we put toward our kids for them to get to do extra activities, and so he's stealing from my kids and that's a bad thing."
Something the thief will have time to think about from the Jones County Jail.
