The Abilene City Council has approved the property tax rate and budget for fiscal year 2013.

The proposed property tax rate is set at 68.6 cents for every $100.

For example, on a $100,000 property, the increase would be about $10 in property taxes

The council also approved a $75.7 million budget, which will go into effect October 1.

There were no oppositions to either item at Monday morning's public hearing.
