Update: Abilene Purchases Former Greyhound Building

There will be a big change in downtown Abilene.

Thursday morning,the Abilene City Council approved spending about a quarter of a million dollars to buy the old Greyhound bus station, clear the land and build a new parking lot.

It will add significant parking space for the Civic Center.

The Abilene City Council will vote Thursday whether or not to purchase the former Greyhound building downtown.

The purchase would allow for potential expansion of parking for the Civic Center.

The property currently has a building on most of it and City officials are determining whether or not that will be torn down.

If approved, it will cost around $235,000. plus closing costs.

The Thursday meeting to determine the feasibility of the purchase will take place at 8:30 a.m.
