Reminder: Play Faire Park Presents 8th Annual SOLID Groove Music Fest Friday, Saturday

The 8th Annual SOLID Groove Music & Arts Festival will be held again this weekend, October 5-6, at Play Faire Park. The festival showcases talent from in and around the Big Country.

This year's festival begins on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and is entitled "Come Together: A Celebration of music by The Beatles." Local musicians will be playing short sets of classic Beatles songs to set the tone of the festival.

Bands playing Friday night include: Vincent Dawson, Joie de Vive, Yan Hartman's Glass Onion, Eric Logan, Duane Ramelot, Chad Douglas, the Happy Fat Band and 'Fraid Knot.

Friday night will be sponsored by the Record Guys (701 S. Leggett) who will be featuring a number of classic Beatles albums for sale.

Saturday kicks off the big day of music at the festival and will feature a number of Abilene's food trucks serving their specialties to the crowds. The music on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. and features a number of the biggest names in the Abilene music scene, and concludes with the Bus Stop Stallions from Austin, led by Abilenian Bryce Powell, formerly of Hunters & Gatherers.

Other bands playing on Saturday include the Transporters, Lori Sims, Tony Barker, that band, Walker Lyle, the Clayton Stewart Band and SOLID featuring My Dark Queen.

Throughout the weekend, various vendors will be selling their handmade crafts throughout the park including Play Faire Park's famous tie-dye. There will also be a play area for kids and the east side of the Park will be open for miniature golf.

This year's SOLID Groove Festival will benefit The Legacy Complex, a new equine-assisted therapy center in Abilene. Volunteers and Staff from The Legacy Complex will be on hand with therapy animals and will be offering horseback rides on Saturday.
