With October in full swing, so is the entertainment and excitement of festivals across the Big Country. One unique event kicking off this weekend in Coleman County, known as the "Fiesta De La Paloma," has everything from arts and crafts, live music, and even a cook-off!

"Fiesta De La Paloma," previously known as the Coleman County Fair, changed their name to "Festival of the Dove" over 30 years ago because of the profound hunting the area provides. One of the biggest events at the festival is a dove championship cook off.

Mary Griffith, Executive Director of the Coleman Chamber of Commerce, says "It's kind of a hometown atmosphere. Bring your families and there's lots going on that weekend." In addition to their popular dove cook off, there will be many arts and crafts, team roping, car show and of course live music...just to name a few of the activities.

The Annual Coleman County "Fiesta De La Paloma" will be taking place this Saturday at the Bill Franklin/ Goree Expo Center Rodeo Grounds, located at highway 206 and 5th avenue. The event gets underway at 9am and wraps up around 5pm.
