DOA Shuts Down Abilene 7-Eleven Pumps, Report of Water in Gas

The Texas Department of Agriculture found water in the gas tanks at an Abilene convenience store and closed the business Tuesday morning.

Abilenian Gina Dixon says she immediately started having problems with her truck Monday after she pumped gas at the 7- Eleven at South 27 and Buffalo Gap.

She took it to a mechanic who checked her gas, then informed the 7-Eleven corporate office about the problem.

She says they continued to sell gas all day Monday, so she contacted the Texas Department of Agriculture who shut down all gas sales at that location Tuesday.

Dixon says the water caused about $2,000 in damage to her truck and that 7-Eleven refused to help with repairs and refused her a rental car till repairs could be made.

Dixon now has an attorney as she awaits conformation from the DOA that there was water in the gas.

I also purchased gas Monday at this location. My check engine line came on shortly after I purchased the gas. I had to have my car towed this morning to a mechanic. He called with the same report of the water in the fuel tank. I contacted the corporate office today. My call was returned and I was asked if I had my receipt. I said she and they were very nice and told me to fax in my bills and it would be turned over to thier insurance company.

I was actually shocked about this article,I have done business with this company for years and I too had an issue a few years back that i reported to corporate and someone called me back promptly and handled my situation with kindness and I too was asked to provide a receipt, which I understand because anyone could say anything..after I provided my receipt they took care of everything.I shop in this store daily and will continue to do so

I agree with both Dustin and John. I had an incident like this happen to me at a local 7-11. I purchased fuel that happened to have water in it and they were more than willing to pay my repair bills. I was told that I had to have my receipt as proof of purchase and then after that everything went so smoothly and I continue to buy fuel from them. They were very helpful and truly seemed to care.

I agree. Could this person have been the victim of a cruel prank? People in Abilene are so fast to jump to conclusions sometimes.

Maybe 7-Eleven has not helped this woman because there is no proof of water being in their gasoline.
