The Abilene High Eagles enter their match-up with the rival Cooper Cougars undefeated, and are focused to keep that record perfect past the Crosstown Showdown.

The Eagles enter Fridays game 5-0, and are coming off a road win over San Angelo Central. AHS was able to move past the Bobcats on a wet night in San Angelo last week relatively easy, but this week they return home to face a team they're very familiar with.

Along with the actual game on the field Friday night is the excitement around Abilene that goes along with the rivalry.

If you asked Abilene High Head Coach Steve Warren, he'd say the players are mostly to thank for the atmosphere that surrounds the annual game.

"I enjoy the game, and somewhat the things that surround it. That's one of the things I've gotten, I think as a coach, better at over the years is hoping the kids enjoy what's going on around it," said Warren.

"They're the ones that have created this atmosphere. It's not anything we've done. It's the players. Hopefully they'll enjoy what's going on around them, but when it's game time, it's game time, and it is fun."
