DRI Pumpkin Patch Opens Thursday

Due to the heavy rains last week, the Abilene Disability Resources Incorporated (DRI) Pumpkin Patch delivery was delayed, however, he pumpkins will be arriving Wednesday afternoon, and sales will begin on Thursday.

There will be large pumpkins,small pumpkins, mini pumpkins, pie pumpkins and gourds for purchase beginning Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

The Pumpkin Patch will be decorated with bales of hay, scarecrows, flowers and giant pumpkins, providing the perfect place for fall photos.   

On weekdays, visitors can enjoy story time and an old-fashioned hayride around the DRI campus, and all activities are free of charge. 

Over 10,000 visitors and 58 school groups came to the patch last year, and over 54 tons of pumpkins were sold.

The DRI Pumpkin Patch will run through the whole month of October, including weekends. 

Hours are Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Sunday 1p.m. - 7 p.m.. 

Funds raised from the patch will be used to continue DRI's ministry of providing residential care, vocational training and recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities.
