Abilene Decides Against Mosquito Spraying this Week

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: October 3, 2012
After preparing for an influx of mosquitoes after this weekend's rain, Abilene will not be spraying this week.

Abilene city officials say their traps showed a light number of mosquitoes and have had few calls from citizens.

And EPA rules will also prevent spraying this week, as wind speeds are too high and the expected cold front this weekend makes it impossible.

The city says they believe the cooler temperatures are a cause for this decrease in mosquitoes, but they will evaluate their traps again next week.
