Novice Land Annex Postponed

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: October 3, 2012
Where the land owned by Novice ISD will go may not be decided until after the elections.

After a petition was presented to the Novice school board by a resident to annex part of the Novice land to Jim Ned, a temporary restraining order has been placed to push the decision back until after November 6.

A judge will determine if the proper procedures were taken in the execution of the petition by Novice.

A public hearing has been set in Coleman for October 10 at 10 a.m. to hear testimonies and determine if the restraining order should be made permanent.

Coleman ISD was planning on using that property to pay back the debt acquired after consolidating with Novice ISD, and taking on the debt owed by the school district after it closed in May.
