By: McMurry Press Release
Updated: October 5, 2012
Tickets are now on sale for McMurry Theatre Department's upcoming production of Return to the Forbidden Planet, an award-winning jukebox musical by Bob Carlton directed by Philip Craik.

The production features 24 top forties hits such as "Great Balls of Fire," "Wipeout," "Good Vibrations," "Teenager in Love," "The Shoop Shoop Song," "Monster Mash," and "Shake, Rattle and Roll."

This madcap musical is loosely based on the 1957 science fiction film The Lost Planet and Shakespeare's comedy The Tempest, with additional lines and plot elements borrowed from a dozen other Shakespearean plays and sci-fi classics.

The costumes and sets are inspired by the original Star Trek TV series and takes place in a spaceship.

Performances will run Oct. 18-20 and 25-27 with curtain time at 7:30, except on Oct. 26 when it will be at 7:00 p.m. due to the Homecoming Coronation and bonfire.

Tickets are $15 for general admission.

All Thursday evening tickets are discounted by $3 and students receive a $5 discount for all performances.

Box-office hours are from 3 - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 3 to 6 p.m. and 30 minutes prior to curtain on all performance dates.

For additional information, call 793-3889 or go by the McMurry Theatre box office located in the lobby of the Amy Graves Ryan Fine Arts Building on the McMurry campus.
