Crosstown Showdown: Cooper vs. Abilene High

To the work at Shotwell Stadium. The 52nd meeting between Abilene High and Cooper. The Eagles with wins in 7 of the last. Cooper leads the series.

1st quarter- Cougars on the move. Trey Dye takes the hand off and he is off. That's a 25 yard gain and 1st down for Cooper...

Later in the drive. Lorenzo Joe keeps the ball. 12 yards. Touchdown Cooper. It's 7-0 Cougars.

Still the 1st. Cooper gets the 1st break. The Evin Abbe can't handle the snap. The Cougars recover and stop the Eagles.

Later in the quarter- The Eagles tie it up. The snap goes over the punters head... Gabriel Jordan recovers for Abilene High. We are knotted up at 7.

Still the 1st. Abilene High throwing. Keevan Lucas makes the catch and is gaining yards, but Cordell Dorsey forces the fumble and his teammates get on the ball and that ends the 1st. Tied at 7.

2nd quarter... Eagles going deep, again.  Abbe goes to Grant Alexander on the near side. That's a 1st down at the 20 yard line for Abilene High.

Few plays later. Abbe rolls out and finds Lucas across the middle. That's a touchdown. Abilene High leads it 14-7.

Cooper answers that score on their next possession. Joe goes down the middle to Anthony Pierson. Great catch. Touchdown cooper. PAT no good. 14-13 abilene high.

Go to the 2nd half... Abilene High moves it down the field. The drive is capped by Marcel Porter. The Eagles take a 21-13 lead in the 3rd.

Still the 3rd. This is the Kashawn Brown drive. Check out the catch on 3rd and long. That's good stuff. 1st down Cooper.

It's 3rd down, again. Joe looking for Brown again, and he's got him. TD Cooper. It's 21-20 Abilene High.

5 minutes to go. Abilene High adds to the lead. This field goal makes it 24-20 in favor of the Eagles.

Cooper answers. Driving down the field. Xavier McCann scores a Touchdown from 2 yards out. Cooper takes  the lead, 27-24.

But Abilene High answers with 10 seconds to go. They march down the field. Evin Abbe to Marcel Porter. It goes thru the defenders hands. TD Eagles, and that is the game winner.  31-27 your final from the Crosstown Showdown.
