TxDOT Says 2012 Safest Year to Date

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: October 8, 2012
By keeping employees safe, TxDOT is keeping drivers safe.

In the past year, TxDOT has seen it's safest year to date in its 95 years existence.

Officials say this means there were fewer injuries, car accidents and production days lost from last September until August, and that making safety a part of the everyday culture at TxDOT has kept Abilene drivers safer.

"If we're safer here, on the job, then we can do a better job making the roads safe for the public," says TxDOT Public Information Officer Darah Waldrip.

TxDOT also says that they have safety meetings to start and end every workday, and that is a big part of how they keep employees and drivers safe.
